Driving to Highclere Castle

The drive to the county where the castle resides wasn’t as picturesque as I imagined. Perhaps I expected a similar experience when driving to Chatsworth House (review come soon) in the north of England. There, you are surrounded by the most lush and beautiful countryside before you get to the house. Here, you come off a busy motorway (Interstate) and follow the signs through a quite nice but nothing too remarkable countryside.

But.. once you get closer to the castle and then enter the grounds you are treated to some lovely landscapes.

Not at the moment, no. They are filming the new series of Downton Abbey. They open in the summer but the tickets are already sold out. Maybe look on eBay for tickets?
