And then… you see it! The castle itself. It really is a grand sight as you begin the walk up to it. But, like most things you see on the television, in real life it’s not quite as big as you think. It also has a weather-worn appearance which I actually like. Not too dolled up, a building that really shows the signs of the seasons. I never got the feeling when watching Downton Abbey it was as worn as it is. But then you are never TOO close for most of the time.

Not at the moment, no. They are filming the new series of Downton Abbey. They open in the summer but the tickets are already sold out. Maybe look on eBay for tickets?
