In Britain, we take “bank holidays” very seriously. A UK bank holiday is our version of the American President’s Day or Martin Luther King Jr. day etc. But it’s not just an excuse to have a day off work.. It’s a day to drink more, do a bit of gardening, watch some James Bond on the telly and possibly even have a barbecue (doesn’t matter if it’s raining. This is Britain, after all. Rain adds to the taste!)
But for some folks, it’s a perfect excuse to have fun with some truly wonderful and wacky events that go back hundreds of years.
Here are the top 4 amazingly wonderful eccentric British Bank Holiday events.
