It’s finally happening this weekend – the biggest event in Europe and in all of the known musical world. Yes, it’s The Eurovision Song Contest! Move over Beyonce, step aside Lorde, bog off Miley Cyrus! The competition that introduced ABBA to the world, is back; and this year it promises to be better and hairer than ever.
Some say politics plays too much of a part in his contest and that’s why the United Kingdom very rarely wins. Those people are wrong. The reason the UK rarely wins is because we don’t have any bearded ladies or men who dress like monsters doing intricate metal polishing on stage.
So here are the top reasons to watch Eurovision this year (see the guide on how to watch via the BBC iPlayer if you’re outside the UK…for some reason this show isn’t broadcast live in the USA – Criminal!)
1. The Bearded Lady
Conchita Wurst is primed to win this year’s competition for Austria. Just look at that fancy beard! It’s quite something, especially for a 25-year old.
